Corrupt School Board Candidates Make deals with Developers to Rob Children of an Education and Taxpayers of Their Money

City Council President Roberta Apuzzo, who is under investigations for her dealings with crooked developers, announced that she will not seek re-election. Corruption is also linked to School Board Trustees Darcy Miller, Omar McDowell and their developer running mate, Edward Poteat. Like Roberta Apuzzo, the trio made deals with developers to sell out Mount Vernon.

 Developers plan to bring 4000 new children to the school district, and force homeowners to pay to educate them. Mount Vernon’s current students will soon be forced to compete for classroom space, and programs.

Mount Vernon’s School District has a pending Lawsuit against the City of Mount Vernon, to enact a moratorium on tax reduced, low-income housing. This lawsuit is saving Mount Vernon from destruction. If these developments are built, homeowners will be on the hook for over $100 million extra per year to educate the new students who will flood the school district. Property taxes will double, due to a rise in education, police, and sanitation cost.

The La Porte developers, who are building on Gramatan Ave, convinced the City Council that only 6-8 kids from their building would enter the school district. They received a 40-year PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) and will pay $60,000 per year in property taxes, for 40 years. In a recent Journal News report, La Porte officials now admit that 50 students will enter the school district. At a minimum of $30,000 per year to educate a student, The La Porte will cost Taxpayers $1.5 Million per year to educate children from their building. Others project 75 kids will enter the school system. City Officials hosed the taxpayers for 40 years. This is just one building. Thanks to our crooked politicians, there are 40 more low income developments coming to Mount Vernon, with the same (tax break) deal. Mount Vernon will go bankrupt, while crooked politicians line their pockets.

In order to assure that the other 40 buildings are erected, developers are scrabbling to dismiss the school district lawsuit, and are pouring money into the re- election of Darcy Miller, Omar McDowell. and Edward Poteat. Mr. Poteat, a low-income slum developer was hand-picked by Kenneth Plummer and former City Councilman Steve Horton, who is under federal investigation with Kenneth Plummer for shady deals they made while the Heritage Homes low-income project was developed in New Rochelle. Mr. Plummer is the key low-income lobbyist in Mount Vernon. On any given day, you will find Kenneth Plummer handing out literature and pumping money into the campaign of Miller, McDowell, and Poteat.

The proposed development will add an additional 25,000 new people to an already overcrowded Mount Vernon. Darcy Miller voted for the district lawsuit, and Omar McDowell voted against the Lawsuit. They are now both in bed with the same people our school district are suing. This is a gross conflict of interest.

Lobbyist, Kenneth Plummer, and City Councilman Marcus Griffith are spearheading the election campaign of Miller, McDowell, and Poteat. For years, corrupt City Councilman Marcus Griffith took money from Plummer and developers in exchange for approval of their projects. Griffith has gone on a lavish spending spree, including buying homes for cash. Griffith, who needs to keep his gravy train rolling, cut deals with Darcy Miller, Omar McDowell, and Edward Poteat to roll back the moratorium.  Mr. Poteat, a slum developer, will stand to pocket millions from taxpayers.

Councilwoman Apuzzo has not filed campaign reports for years. Sunday’s Journal News investigative series exposed the widespread corruption in Mount Vernon. Apuzzo received large donations from developers who had applications before the City Council. Money was passed, and developers received approvals for their applications. Against campaign finance law, Roberta Apuzzo did not file reports showing her donors. The heat is on to see her contributions, and now she suspends her campaign. Marcus Griffith should resign from the City Council. He received hundreds of thousands from groups who had applications before the City Council.

Make no doubt about it, Mount Vernon is overrun with dirty politicians. Kenneth Plummer and Marcus Griffith are at the center of a government investigation. Darcy Miller, Omar McDowell, and Edward Poteat have sold out our children and taxpayers. The Miller, McDowell, and Poreat campaign has been marred with violence, and corruption.  They made deals with corrupt individuals, and are now the faces of what is wrong with Mount Vernon.

School Board Trustee Omar McDowell hit a new low Tuesday, and it is now clear that the only reason he became a School Board Trustee, is to line his pockets with taxpayer’s money. Tuesday, Trustee McDowell and long time crook Terrance Horton, stormed the Ed Center, trying to secure a contract for Horton and Horton’s Korean business connection.  Sources report, that in return for McDowell securing a school district contract for Terrance Horton, he would receive a 10% cut. Sources also report that McDowell was promised financial compensation for securing a deal for Carver Federal Bank to perform services for the school bond. Such deals are illegal.

Mount Vernon Exposed was informed that Trustee McDowell is receiving food stamps under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, (SNAP). It is likely that McDowell is also receiving government rent assistance. The McDowell family members are driving expensive Cadillac vehicles with out of state plates.  How is it possible that a Trustee on government assistance can afford theses vehicles? Something is wrong, and a federal investigation needs to be conducted to find out if the McDowells are defrauding the government.

The UBC tried to hijack the School Board, by backing Kevin Bunch in the past election. A Bunch win would have given Trustee Dorothea Miller the Board Presidency, and the United Black Clergy (UBC) control of the Board. Miller is tied to the hip of Omar McDowell, as well as The UBC. It would have been a disaster having this group in power. Crooked Ministers pulling the strings of a crooked board majority would be a repeat of 2002 when the then $100 million bond was stolen. With a majority, the district would have had no choice but to cave in to McDowell, and our bond money would once again become misappropriated.

McDowell is an embarrassment. He is the point man for crooked Ministers and crooked businessmen, and should resign. It is obvious that he does not have enough moral fiber to represent children, and hold the position as a School Board Trustee. The fact that he has other Trustees who are aligned with him, is shameful. Those Trustees should also resign. Our Children deserve better.

The board owes the residents of Mt Vernon an audit of past bonds. It was promised, but it has yet to be accomplished.

Mount Vernon Exposed has received information from a credible source that the U.S. Justice Department has opened up an investigation in the spending of past school bond money, and the illegal activity of a few churches in Mount Vernon. Residents have flooded their office with complaints.

Past school board elections were stolen by church officials desperate to control contracts and jobs. Mount Vernon residents are concerned that election fraud will happen again this year. Thieves are lining themselves up to get their hands on the current bond, and will do anything to win this election.

Trustee Omar McDowell is already applying pressure to school officials and hoping to award contracts to shady characters. Mount Vernon taxpayers are terrified at the prospect that this $108 million bond will experience the same fate as past bonds. Most of the current board members have performed a great job revitalizing the school district, but are few are hell bent on hitching their wagon to crooked ministers who want to steal money.  In no other community are churches involved in the school district like what is going on in Mt Vernon. After devastating the school system from 1997-2013, these crooked Ministers are back to raid our bond money once again. Enough is enough.

It will be great to see a few past and current corrupt board members, along with their rogue Minister counterparts, being carted off to jail.

RECREATION COMMISSIONER PASTOR MORTON WILLFULLY AND KNOWINGLY VIOLATES HIS TAX EXEMPT STATUS BY ENDORSING CANDIDATES FROM THE PULPIT

Several irate Macedonia Baptist church members called Mount Vernon Exposed to express their outrage that Macedonia Baptist Church Pastor Darren Morton, once again violated United States tax code laws. Last Sunday, Pastor Morton told his congregation whom he wanted them to vote for in the upcoming School Board Election. Such behavior is in violation of Macedonia’s IRS tax-exempt status. A member recorded the service and sent the recording with a complaint to the IRS.

City Hall sources report that Recreation Commissioner, Rev Morton constantly cheats taxpayers by performing his personal business while on the city’s clock. So much for the seventh commandment of thou shall not steal.

A handful of the 400 plus Pastors in Mount Vernon are anxious to raid the $108 million school bond so they can line their pockets. Dummy companies are being formed to rob Mount Vernon blind.  Sources say that current board member Omar McDowell the point man for theses rogue Pastors is already lining up shady contractors to receive lucrative contracts. Sources also say that some of these contractors were in on the heist of the 2002 bond.  An anonymous official close to Grace Baptist Church says that School Trustee Dorothea Miller is also in on the plot to oust one of her board colleagues, who is up for reelection. She has been promised to become Board President if this sick plot is successful. Mount Vernon Exposed believes Ms. Miller is either lacking knowledge of how our district suffered under church rule, or she will personally benefit from the ripping off of a poor school district. The feds are currently swarming Mount Vernon with many investigations currently taking place. Handcuffs and a jail cell is what are needed for many in this city.

Grace Baptist and other churches should be charged with crimes against humanity for destroying so many lives. Children dropped out of school in droves under church control, because they were denied an ample education. The church controlled board terminated vocational trade classes. This caused academically challenged children to drop out of school in droves. Most ended up in jail. Thousands of students were adversely affected by illegal activities of church officials. One former student suggested a class action suit against the UBC and members of the CEEPA controlled boards.

It appears that every bad character in Mount Vernon is backing Mr. Kevin Bunch. Our current board has made tremendous progress in the past 3 years and extensive oversight has been put in place to protect the taxpayer’s bond money. It is clear that there is an all out assault to steal this bond.

Good board members are now paying the price for not opening up an investigation of the 2002 bond. This would have landed Ministers and past Board Members in Federal prison.
