BREAKING NEWS: COUNCILWOMAN DIANE MUNRO MORRIS DROPPED FROM DEMOCRATIC BALLOT

This just in.  City Councilwoman Diane Munroe Morris’ petitions have been declared invalid by the Westchester County Board of Elections.  According to the BOE ruling, Councilwoman Diane Munro needed 1,000 valid signatures to appear on the ballot for the Democratic Primary on September 13, 2011.  Councilwoman Diane Munro submitted 1,832 signatures and 1,019 signatures were declared invalid leaving 813 valid signatures.

This is first time in recent years that an incumbent not backed by the Mount Vernon Democratic City Committee did not make the ballot.  Diane Munro retained Dan Pagano as her counsel and a hearing is scheduled on Monday, August 15, 2011 before the Honorable Judge Nicolas Colabella.  We will keep you posted on this election matter.
